Wasn't sure if anyone would come..,.
Thanks to the experienced crew at Books Kinokuniya Singapore, my first ever Meet-the-Author event unfolded smoothly yesterday. Good sized crowd. Had a nice, engaging Q&A. Was a pleasure to meet readers face-to-face. Some memorable moments:
* A diplomat discretely slipped his name card on the table when he got his copy signed.
* A new dad stood patiently in line with his 5 months old baby strapped to his chest.
* A Canadian family on vacation popped by, the wife said to hubby "Hey, isn't this the book you got from Amazon?", then bought another to get it autographed because "the author is here".
* An army officer bought 10 copies for key appointment holders in his NS battalion.
* A reader slipped a coin from an SAF unit in the palm of my hand while shaking hands.
* More than a handful of NSFs leaned over to whisper that "you mentioned my unit in your book", but didn't say which unit, before disappearing into the crowd.

The next adventure will see Malaysia and Singapore fighting side-by-side to defeat a common threat. Shades of FPDA in action but it's all made up, imaginary and not real (of course).
